About UTM: University Technology Malaysia (also known as UTM) is a public research University in Malaysia and a research-intensive university in engineering, science and technology. UTM is a graduate-focused university with 56% of its student population consisting of postgraduate students, the highest in Malaysia. As at 2015, UTM has more than 5,000 international students from more than 60 countries, the highest among research the universities in Malaysia. The main campus of UTM university which is in Johor Bahru is the second largest public university after Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

Location of University Technology Malaysia (UTM Location):

UTM has two campuses – the main campus is in Skudai (Johor Bahru), and was the first university in the state of Johor. It is about 20 km north of the state capital, Johor Bahru, and is close to the Sultan Ismail Airport, Senai. Note that, Johor Bahru in about 320 KM from Kuala Lumpur.

The branch campus is located in Kuala Lumpur Jalan Semarak,  The branch campus accommodates diploma students, part-time students (also known as the SPACE program), undergraduate students (Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology) and foreign students taking business courses.

English Language requirement for admission in University Technology Malaysia (UTM): All international students who are going to apply for UTM are required to have Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL) or the test administered by the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with the minimum required score below for different levels of study.

Students for Master and PhD programs who have the following also can be accepted in UTM:

Candidates from Indonesia, Brunei and other nations that use Malay as a medium of communication are exempted from the UTM English language requirements based on the following conditions:

• The candidate intends to register for an MSc. or a PhD programme by research.
• The candidate declares that the thesis/dissertation will be written in Malay and approved by the supervisor

Candidates for Faculty of Islamic Civilization programme can use Bahasa Arab/Arabic as to write their thesis based on the following conditions:

• The candidate intends to register for an MSc or PhD programme of research
• The candidate declares that the thesis/dissertation will be written in Arabic and approved by the supervisor

NOTE: If you do not have one of the above English requirements, you are not eligible to apply for UTM University (you can apply to other universities which provide English Course or apply for English language institutes to get your IELTS)
